<Do You Hear Them Singing>, 6 channel video installation, 2024, is an attempt to dismantle nationalism around reunification propaganda having ”Arirang” in the center. “Arirang” is a well-known traditional folklore song with 600 years of history in Korea. Thousands of variations and countless versions exist of this song, all with the common refrain: "Arirang, arirang, arariyo". Because of its long history and popularity, the song is multi-layered: Not only is it of traditional value, but it has a close relation to reunification propaganda.

Can “Arirang” be honored without codes? Can we be decoded? How do we navigate ourselves in the time of algorithms?
